Carl Turner Launches Campaign for State Representative

Leawood, KS - Carl Turner, Republican of Leawood, has launched his campaign for State Representative in District 28, the seat currently held by Representative Kellie Warren (R-Leawood), who recently announced she is running for the State Senate.

Turner, a Leawood resident for 30 years, is a career financial, process improvement, and project management professional. Leveraging his professional experience to restore our economy and lead budget management, combined with his extensive volunteerism and long-standing support of public education, makes Turner well-suited to be an effective advocate in Topeka for the families of Overland Park and Leawood.

"Currently, our nation is fighting an unprecedented pandemic and we are united in taking the steps necessary to slow the spread and flatten the curve. When the stay-at-home orders lift, we must stand ready to get our economy moving again, with an emphasis on quality jobs so our families and local businesses can thrive. That means great schools, access to affordable health care and removing barriers to success in all phases of our economy," said Turner.

Turner's decision to run was also motivated by a desire to ensure District 28 retains solid representation, particularly with challenging times ahead.

"If there was ever a time when we must have a steady hand at the wheel, it is now. We must have legislators with experience in financial management and an understanding of the individual needs of our local communities.. Responsible leadership is required, and it is imperative we focus on solutions that we know will work. We must be ready to help families get back on their feet and get our businesses open and growing again once this is over."

Turner is a pro-life Republican who actively campaigned with Rep. Kellie Warren in 2018 and hopes to continue her pragmatic approach to governing in Topeka. The Republican Primary is August 4th, and the General Election is November 3rd.
